Clinical, Health and Forensic Psychology
Is the Corona virus making you anxious, depressed or angry? If you would like to quit smoking for good or suffer from an addiction, I can help. I integrate mindfulness meditation, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and psychodynamic insight-oriented psychotherapy to help you cope with stress, overcome addictions and deal effectively with challenges in your relationships and at work. For more than 20 years I have been an Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco where I taught and did research on stress, trauma, anxiety and relationship issues.
With mindfulness meditation and Dialectical Behavior Therapy I help clients gain control over their emotional reactivity and addictive habits. I use psychodynamic insight-oriented therapy to identify how unconscious, self-protective defensive reactions can interfere with your relationships and work.
For over forty years I have been helping clients overcome anxiety, depression, anger, addictions and emotional reactivity. As a Zen Buddhist practitioner, mindfulness teacher, psychoanalyst and DBT therapist I integrate different approaches to help clients reduce suffering, build resilience and self-control and enhance their capacity to love and to work.
